We had mentioned this on twitter but we have been so busy I forgot to mention it on the blog. My Friend Lisa is no longer just a duo! We have welcomed Renee (keys) & Lani (violin) into the fold!! We are still finding our footing with all this but have a listen to our off the floor cuts from last nights studio kitchen rehearsal.
And our complete failure at playing Smashing Pumpkins Disarm. My Friend Lisa – Dec.14.2011 – Disarm I personally blame the kettle boiling over at that exact moment.
Not perfect but we have only played together a couple of times so I figure we are on the way to AWESOME!!
…and we happened to have a camera running for all those folks in Calgary that couldn’t join us! (the camera stopped for a quick sec during Kids sorry) shout out to Darren for running the camera and such. We also apologize for the evil demon like red glow that bathes everything on stage. It was the venues mood lighting.
While rehearsing at the shared jam space we had an unofficial rock off with the really loud metal band in the room next door! They may have won by shear volume, but we still kicked some ass!! Folk/rock styles!
Well it has been a super busy year thus far, so busy in fact that we here at My Friend Lisa have been on a bit of a break to deal with all the crazy busy! However fear not the creative wheels are a spinning once again! In fact this past week found us hard at work, re-imaging one of our first long forgotten songs, and working our newest My Friend Lisa Member into our song ‘London’. Everyone meet ‘Champ’ our honest to goodness vintage Ace Tone Drum Machine! (last photo) Once we have some of these re-works all worked out. There should hopefully be some studio time booked for us in this fall.
Here is the show unedited as it streamed complete with all our mistakes, false starts, and failed encores The streaming technology how ever was a complete success. This Livestream is a far superior solution as compared to our ustream of old. Anyway Check it out…
Yes you heard us right! This Wednesday Feb 9th at 7pm tune in to our Livestream channel to see My Friend Lisa Preform Live for you the people of the interwebs!

Come give us a listen, a look, stay and chat with other folks! at http://www.myfriendlisa.com/live-streaming/
So our Summer has been a particularly busy one. However busy not in the musical sense but instead busy in the life & stuff sense. Which is to say sadly that there has not been a great deal of progress on the My Friend Lisa front these past few months. That is all however beginning to change as the summers craziness fades into fall we are starting to work on some new songs, rework older work, as well as actively starting to record some tracks for the First My Friend Lisa LP.
We have finally set ourselves up a permanent work space with all our gear set up and ready to record at a moments notice so there doesn’t need to be crazy marathon recording days, we can instead lay down tracks when we are feeling good with out spending time setting all the gear up. We should have a tour to come in the distant future. Tonight, at the end of our jam, we recorded a really quick cut to test out our new setup.
We are playing a show!!!!
Yup you heard right, we are playing our very first show that isn’t in my living room. October 2nd at the Dulcinea Cafe we will be the opening act for our good friend Sarah Sim who is raising money for her trek to build homes in Guatemala
It was sort of by accident really. We wern’t meaning to head out to an open mic. Some of us just wanted tacos. Being without a guitar I even had to borrow one, this should tell you how much we weren’t planning this. With the power of a high def cameras in our pockets (IE: the iPhone 4) we were able to capture some truly subpar video/audio of this accidental event.
